Blog Question #3

Straight Ahead VS Pose to Pose Animation

a) Straight Ahead - Starts with first drawing and each second has a new drawing. Could unintentionally change size and proportions. More pictures, takes more time, less planned out. Action scenes commonly done with this method.

Pose to Pose - Key drawings are done every couple of seconds. Size and proportion are better controlled. Animator doesn't have to draw every picture - more planned out, less time.

b) We can't usually see the difference between the two different animation styles because they both cause a trick of the eye that the human eye can't notice.

c) Pivot uses straight ahead animation and Flash generally uses pose to pose but can also use straight ahead; it can be a combination of both.

d) I prefer to use pose to pose animation because it takes less time and you can plan out the scenes better.
