Ethics and Aesthetics

Ethics - What our standards are, what we perceive as "good" or "bad", inner beauty.

Aesthetics - What we see as beautiful, pleasing apperance, outer beauty.

Our society finds it ethically not acceptable to "Photoshop" a photo when it is something relating to news or everyday, important information.

Our society finds it aesthetically acceptable to "Photoshop" a photo if it's an image in a magazine or any image in an advertisement form.



Liquify

To make our fighter look more impressive, we used the bloat and liquify tools to make him bigger in some areas and smaller in others.

To fix Jake's face, we used the spot healing brush tool to get rid of his blemishes, whitened his eyes with the "Pearly Whites" brush and added a surface blur.

To get rid of his girlfriend, we used the clone stamp tool to erase her.

To create this, we took the picture of Susan and selected the background behind her original picture and deleted it. We then relocated her to a new place.

To create this, we selected an image on added a text layer on top with a large, thick font. Select the letters individually and add a levels layer. With the picture as the top layer, join it with the levels layer.

Make 3 copies of one photo, make the background black. Make a rectangular frame around the bottom 3/4 of the subject. Invert the frame selection, and paint the outside black and drag the layer below the picture and the frame layer. With the picture selected, attach it to the clipping mask. Select the top half of the subject, add a new levels layer. Drag it back to the top and attach. Change the background to your liking.

To create different colours of one t-shirt, we used the quick selection tool to select the one colour of the shirt and adjusted the hue and saturation.

To create the vector shapes, select the shape you want to use, add it to the image and edit it to your liking.

To create the name reflection, we took two copies of a word, flipped one copy, skewed it and used the gradient tool and opacity to make it fade.

To create the colour splash, we took all the hue and saturation away from a picture and used the paint tool to bring the original colour back to one object.

To create a picture blend, open two images, overlapping them and using the gradient tool to blend them together.
