3D Pop Out

To create the 3D pop out effect, make three copies of one photo. Make the background copy black. Create a rectangular frame around the bottom of the subject on a new layer so the part you want to pop out is outside the frame. Invert the frame selection, add a levels layer, paint outside the frame black. Drag the frame layer and the picture layer above the new levels layer. Join the picture layer to the levels layer. Select the top half of the subject and add a new levels layer. Join the picture to the new levels layer. Adjust the background.

Oli Sykes Pop Art Final Project

To create this pop art effect, make the picture black and white. Adjust the lighting levels to make it look more like its a drawing or painting (less fine details). Paint over different features with gray on a different layer for each different feature. Adjust the hue and saturation of each with colorize selected and saturation full but, on the layer of the skin have a low saturation and light colour. Have four copies of the image and adjust the hue of each to create the pop art.
